Staff armored car (DSh)

Staff armored car (DSh) was designed in the USSR in the early thirties for railway troops of Red Army. DSh was a command and observation post of the commander of armored battalion, both in movement and in fight. Armored car was produced on the base of the chassis of the Kolomna motor car. The hull welded from 4-8 mm armor was fastened to the frame by bolts and was divided inside into staff and fighting compartment. On a roof the hexadecimal turret with a machine gun “Maxim” was installed. Besides, one DT was placed in the front sheet of the hull. For boarding of crew and staff, there were three doors in boards of the hull. For observation at the movement, in the staff compartment there were three windows with armored flaps. Armored car was equipped with radio station 71-TK-1 with the handle antenna, and the mechanism for passing to the parallel track. These fighting vehicles participated in World War II, both on the Soviet-German front and in the Far East, in fights with Japan. In all there were produced up to ten of such cars.
