Opel Ambulance (Opel 3,6 Ambulance)

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a German WWII Opel Blitz 3t truck, from the family of lights trucks produced by Opel and other makers during the war, without doubt the most iconic German truck of the war, as specialized ambulance vehicle.

After the basic cargo variant ESCI – 8355 – 8007 – LKW 3 Tons Opel Blitz Truck (LKW. 3t Opel Blitz) ESCI produced in 1975 an interesting ambulance variant adding a new sprue for the rear cargo area in the shape of an ambulance version. Sadly, though the rear doors can be opened, there is no interior detail at all, not even the inner shape of the externally moulded windows and side doors, which are just engraved the plates.

This set still saw some success, being released by Revell, Hasegawa or Pollistil in the 70s but Aurora discarded this kit. Lastly Italeri released this kit as Italeri – 7055 – Opel Kfz.305 Ambulance.

Different bodies were constructed for the ambulance variants during the war, the ESCI kit is the only of its type but Fujimi also released an interesting ambulance variant 1/72 Fujimi – ML4 (722313) – German Military Truck (DAK/Desert Ambulance) though using a different body pattern.
