Description:

M60 A1 Patton

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a U.S. M60 tank, a further develop of the M48 series. This tanks never got officially the consideration of belong to the Patton family, they were introduced in 1960 and remain operative in some countries. In the U.S. they were retired from combat line after Desert Storm in 1991.

ESCI tooled the M60 series in 1987, since the beginning they were issued with link and length tracks. ESCI applied to this series same of the simplifications common in the brand, as for example issue all the wheels and return rollers as single piece, double width, without space in the middle for the track inner guide teeth, so the tracks hasn’t this detail and are really flat in the inner side.

All the hatches are closed and no figures are provided in this series. Details on the hull and turret are good but cast doesn’t looks so crispy as other ESCI kits (Leopard I series for example).

Revell also tooled some M60 kits, they are in general superior to the ESCI kits. Production batches of the late 80s and 90s by ESCI were not so large as previously, so the family M60 is hard to find nowadays and the same happen to the Italeri reissues like Italeri – 7075 – M60A1. In the Italeri kit page you can see images of the sprues.
