Description:

Unpainted plastic soldiers in 1/72 scale depicting Russian Hussars during the Crimean War.

The Russian Hussars took part in the quite famous event of the “Thin Red Line” during the Battle of Balaclava, when in a follow up after the take of the redoubts hold by Turkish troops around Balaclava port the Russians charged a thin line mainly composed of British Highlanders but were disbanded by long range fire and the action ended up in nothing, the Russians did not seized the port, which would have cut supplies to the British army, and the Thin Red Line hadn’t a single casualty.

Box contains 12 mounted figures in 12 poses. Horses come in 6 different poses.

The figures in this set are quite nice and well done, not only cast but proportions of the sculpture are rather good (most of them) which was not so usual in Strelets at the time this set was produced. Sadly the horses are not, at least for our taste, but maybe they can be replaced but some later Russian horse from the Strelets range that looks better to our eyes. In any case, for those looking to the “Thin Red Line” event this is the only option that covers the Russian Hussars during the Crimean War.
