Unpainted plastic soldiers in 1/72 scale depicting Russian Naval artillery and sailors during the Crimean War.

With the Anglo-French fleet blocking Sevastopol several important Russian vessels were sunk at the entrance of the port to avoid the entrance of the British or French vessels. Of course everything useful in those ships was carried to Sevastopol before sunk them, with some hundred naval guns amongst it. To cite some, Grand Duke Constantine and City of Paris with 120 guns each, Khrabryi, Imperatritsa Maria, Chesma, Rostislav, and Yagondeid with 84 guns each, were deliberately sunk and the guns, crews and sailors reinforced the defense of the city.

With this background, the naval artillery and the sailors played a relevant role in the defense of Sevastopol, and Strelets already touched the subject by including some sailors in labour in the set Strelets – 027 – Crimean War Russian Cossack Infantry and Sailors.

This box contains 25 figures in 25 different poses plus 2 naval guns. In the figures, the same 10. figures included in the Russian Cossack Infantry and Sailors set are present here, mostly sailors at labour, a couple of figures acting as infantry and a high officer figure. This leaves 14 new figures to serve the two guns added in the set. The 14 new figures are nicely done and in a well assorted different poses for their task around the guns. The guns themselves are simplified models with just 6 parts per gun (including the 4 wheels) and pretty big guns.

This is a must hace set for anyone interested in the Siege of Sevastopol.

*If you counted all the number of figures, you are probably missing 1, this set as many other Strelets set include a bonus Streltsi figure not related to the box.
