Description:

Crimean War Scots Greys

Unpainted plastic soldiers in 1/72 scale depicting the British Scots Greys, 2nd Royal North British Dragoons, heavy cavalry regiment during the Crimean War.

The Scot Greys together with other heavy Dragoons regiments formed the Heavy Brigade during the war (see Strelets – 902 – Heavy Brigade and Strelets – 023 – Crimean War British Heavy Dragoons) and their appearance was pretty much similar to the famous unit in the Napoleonic times with the very distinctive bearskin.

The Heavy Brigade had its epic moment in the war when charged and disbanded a superior force of Russian Cavalry in events during the battle of Balaclava. The event could have been a major disaster for the Russian Cavalry but the British Light Brigade did not pursuit the disbanded Russian troops.

This box contains 12 mounted figures in 12 poses, horses also come in 12 different poses. The offer of poses is very generous and figures are nicely portrayed in useful poses. 6 of the horses were used before in the Heavy Dragoons set, but 6 new has been introduced and Strelets issued here for first time a stunning falling horse pose which works with an specific rider pose to create a very dramatic figure. Same horses were used later in some other sets by Strelets.
