Description:

Napoleonic Brunswick Avant Garde.

Unpainted plastic soldiers in 1/72 scale depicting Brunswick Avant Garde soldiers during the Napoleonic wars.

At the time Brunswick was one of the German states that took part in the Napoleonic wars, the Avant Garde was a light infantry unit performing skirmish ahead of the line infantry and in such role served with the British Army in the Peninsular War and later at Quatre Bras and Waterloo battles.

In the later war, 1814 ahead, the unit were reformed into two different types, being the Gelernte Jägers (Hunters) the subject this kit. They wear a very distinctive uniform and hat, which is all nicely done here.

This set has been produced in two types. Both with 48 figures, but the first with 8 poses and 9 in the second.

Focusing in the second type of the box, despite the sprue contains 12 figures, 3 of the poses are included two times, so you get each figures of these, which are kneeling reloading, stand up reloading and stand up firing. The other poses are included 4 times. The just 9 poses of the second type is bit short for the topic but allows to built some skirmishing troops with some too much repetition.

Sculpture is nice and cast is free from flash, figures are bit tall but well proportioned and plastic used is some harder than other HäT examples.

HäT devoted a well part of its production to the Napoleonic Wars, and so they exclusively covers many particular subjects as this is the case.

Older box layout.
