Description:

Thin Red Line

Unpainted plastic soldiers in 1/72 scale depicting one of the events during the Battle of Balaklava, when the Russians by surprise tried to assault the port of Balaklava cutting off the British army from their supply point. After successfully capture some redoubts around the port, the last obstacle for the Russian troops was a “thin” line composed mainly of Highlanders, some other British wounded troops and some Turkish troops. Russian Hussars charged the line, but the line fired at long range and the Russians disbanded the assault, with 0 casualties for the British and little for the Russians, the encounter ended up in nothing, but the press of the time highlighted it to counter the disaster of “The Charge of the Light Brigade” during the same battle.

A Strelets big box for the Crimean War, composed of three already released boxes (at the time) plus 49 new foot figures, for a total of 147 figures in 147 poses, 12 o them mounted with horses in 6 poses.

The 3 already released boxes are:

The new 49 figures were all devoted to the Ottoman army, and later some of them, were included in the release of Strelets – M052 – Turkish Army and Strelets – M066 – Russian Turkish War 1877 Turkish Infantry in Winter Uniform (when issued as stand alone it was assigned to the Russo-Turkish war two decades later, but they are more appropriate for the Crimean War time), but still a good number remains as unique to this set, including the officers.
