Description:

48N6E of 5P85S TEL S-300PMU SA-10 GRUMBLE

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a Soviet S-300 missile system developed in the late 70s and still in service in around 18 countries around the world, mostly former Soviet Union countries but also Middle East, Asian or African countries. SA-10 Grumble should be the original variant entered service in 1978, but PMU stands for a more modern variant introduced in the 90s for export market, while markings included are Russian ones (designation should be then PM or PMU-1), so a bit of confusion here around the title chosen by the brand for the kit.

The name 48N6E, gives us more information about the model offered by HobbyBoss, since those are improved missiles for Ballistic missile interception, introduced for the PMU-1 series, introduced in 1993.

Designation of 5P85S TEL refers to master vehicle fitted with a mobile radar, distinguishable by the large enclosed equipment container behind the cabin. Slave vehicles (5P85D) haven’t this area enclosed, and without radar they are controlled by the master ones. This differentiation was introduced with series PM in 1985. This series firstly introduced the capability to launch nuclear war heads.

The system is a long range surface-to-air missile to intercept aircraft and cruise or ballistic missiles, mounted on a TEL (Transporter erector launcher) based on the MAZ-7910 8 × 8 truck.

The kit consists of over 90 parts, it includes rubber tyres and decal sheet for 9 different vehicles.
