Description:

Canal Defence Light Tank
Medium Tank M3 “General Grant CDL”

Canal Defence Light, CDL, was a british secret weapon developed during WWII, based on the use of a a powerful carbon-arc searchlight mounted on a tank, for night operations, abling to target enemy positions as well as to dazzle and disorient enemy troops. British mounted them into M3 Grant tanks that externally mostly looked like an standard M3, replacing only the 37mm turret.

All the series of M3 tanks by Mirage are considered as the best option for the topic, superior to any other maker, and this variant is not an exception, as shares all the parts with an M3 Grant except the new turret housing the CDL device and a dummy 37mm gun.

Kit consists of a high number of parts, 165, and that considering that tracks are single piece rubber ones. Also provides rubber tow cable.

While very good detailed, it doesn’t mean it’s an easy kit, amount of detail and small part makes construction complex enough as to be recommended to experienced modellers, also different qualities in the cast, as many modellers reports sink holes while others do not, missing PE parts, different turrets to the variant of the box, and so, makes the Mirage a bit of unpredictable kit.

Decal sheet allows two British markings, dated 1945, Renania and Germany.
