Description:

MK IV Churchill

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a British WWII Infantry Tank Churchill Mk.III variant.

ESCI tooled this kit in 1977, the same year they released the exotic variant ESCI – 8339 – 8049 – Churchil AMRCR with parts for the mine-roller.

As with other ESCI kits, initially was issued with single piece tracks very hard to work with. Later ESCI-Ertl added better link-and-length tracks. The tracks are almost the only weak point to say about this kit, which is an excellent depiction of a Churchill Mk. III, despite all the ESCI releases sold it as Mk. IV. The main difference between this two variants is the cast (Mk. IV) or welded turret (Mk. III) which a very easy and noticeable feature.

Another point to comment, and also common to many ESCI kit, is the presence of several ejection pin marks on visible areas that need fill and sand.

Italeri also re-released this kit, firstly as Italeri – 7019 – Churchill MK.III, with the link and length tracks, and then, difficult to understand unless just the moulds are exhaust, as Italeri – 7083 – Churchill Mk. III with the single piece tracks (note than different material than the original).

8043
ESCI second box type, first release of this kit.
