Description:

Pz. Kpfw. IV (Pz. Kpfw. IV H)

Unassembled plastic model kit in 1/72 scale of a German WWII Panzer IV tank, Ausf. H variant.

ESCI releases two Panzer IV models, over the time they were named Ausf.G or Ausf.H , though they bot shared all the box content, except decals. Maybe because that, some of the releases were just titled Panzer IV.

The difference, for ESCI, between both versions, was mount or not the side-skirts and turret shield, Schürzen, basically a spaced armour, but the kit depicts better an Ausf. G than an Ausf. H.

At the time of release, and for years, the ESCI kit was obviously the best Panzer IV 1/72 scale model, but such important subject in the war, has translated also in one of the most important and numerous subjects in the 1/72 scale modelling, with lot of newer releases and with the scrutiny of the finest modellers. In summary, the ESCI Panzer IV kit, is an obsolete kit mainly for Collectors.

Despite of this, the kit has some good features, and closely depicts a late Ausf. G Panzer IV. The later link-and-length tracks were of course far better that the initial vinyl single piece tracks.

Same kit was also the base for other Panzer IV related develops, ESCI – 8320 – 8056 – Panzer Jager IV (Sd.Kfz. 162 Ausf. F), ESCI – 8320 – 8056 – Panzer Jager IV (Sd.Kfz. 162 Ausf. F), ESCI – 8311 – 8065 – Sturmpanzer IV (Pz. IV “Brummbär”) and ESCI – 8310 – 8063- Flakpanzer IV (Pz. IV Wirbelwind) all of them share parts with this kit.
